Pin 2 Receiver Power Supply VCC RX: Provide +3.3 V DC via the recommended receiver power s upply filter circuit. Locate the power supply filter circuit as close as possible to the VCC RX pin. Note: the filter circuit should not cause VCC to drop bel ow minimum specification. Pin 3 Signal Detect SD: Normal optical input levels to the receiver result in a logic “1” output. Low optical input levels to the receiver result in a logic “0” output. This Signal Dete ct output can be used to drive a LVPECL input on an upstream circuit, such as Signal Detect input or L oss of Signal -bar. Pin 4 Receiver Data Out Bar RD-: No internal terminations are provided. See recommend ed circuit schematic. Pin 5 Receiver Data Out RD+: No internal terminations are provided. See recommend ed circuit schematic. Pin 6 Transmitter Power Supply Vcc TX: Provide +3.3 V DC via the recommended transmi tter power supply filter circuit. Locate the power supply filter circuit as close as possible to the VCC TX pin. Pin 7 Transmitter Signal Ground VEE TX: Directly connect these pins to the transmitter signal ground plane. Pin 8 N/C Not in use. Pin 9 Transmitter Data In TD+: No internal terminations are provided. See recomm ended circuit schematic. Pin 10 Transmitter Data In Bar TD-: No internal terminations are provided. See recomm ended circuit schematic. Mounting Studs/Solder Posts: the mounting studs are pr ovided for transceiver mechanical attachment to the circuit board. It is recommended that the holes in the cir cuit board be connected to chassis ground.

Prelimin ary and Proprietary www.wavesplitter.com Page 1of 8 100Mbps 2x5 SFF MT-RJ Transceiver WST-M-3-M-A-C-S-x-A Series Description: The WST-M-3-M-A-C-S-A family of transceivers from W ST allows for a range of Fast Ethernet, FDDI and AT M applications at 100 -125 Mb/s data rates. The transceivers are p rovided in an industry standard 2×5 DIP package and a multimode MT-RJ fiber connector interface. The 2X5 100BASE-FX MT-RJ transmitter section utiliz es a 1300 nm LED, and is packaged in the optical su bassembly portion of the transmitter. The drive is provided b y a custom IC that converts differential PECL logic signals into an analog LED drive current. The receiver section utilizes a PIN photodiode coup led to a custom trans impedance preamplifier, and i s packaged in the optical subassembly portion of the receiver. This P IN/preamplifier combination is coupled to a custom quantizer that provides the final pulse shaping for the logic outp ut and the Signal Detect function.
